Lachlan Tidmarsh is senior vice president and chief information officer for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies. 

Tidmarsh is responsible for leading BCSBA’s Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) organization, driving innovation and adoption of new technologies to support BCBS companies and the collective BCBS System. He is focused on building relationships with BCBS companies and related Blue entities to help enhance the BCBS brand and advance market leadership.  

Prior to joining BCBSA, Tidmarsh held a number of leadership roles at high-profile organizations  
in healthcare and other industries. Most recently, he served as CIO for UnitedHealth Group’s OptumCare line of business, where he was responsible for delivery of IT services and strategy supporting primary care and specialty clinicians across the United States. Prior to that, he was the CIO of Surgical Care Affiliates, the nation’s premier provider of ambulatory surgical care services, and CIO for Chicago Public Schools, the nation’s third-largest public school district. 

Tidmarsh earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
