Providing support for federal workers across the country

American families continue to get back on their feet following the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.  It lasted 35 days and impacted 800,000 federal workers who were either furloughed or required to work without pay.  With the threat of disruption still looming, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies nationwide continue to partner with community organizations to support our members and communities during times of financial hardship.

BlueCross BlueShield Federal Employee Program: $1 million donation to the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund to aid federal workers and their families.
CareFirst: $1 million donation to the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund to aid federal workers and their families and $500,000 donation to food banks and local human service organizations.
BlueCross BlueShield Massachusetts: $30,000 donated to local food banks and pantries to support the 8,000 federal workers in Massachusetts. Conducted food drives at the company's headquarters and coordinated with 3 local organizations to distribute food to federal workers.
BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina: 6,100 diapers and 400 hygiene products donated to federal families by employees.
BlueCross BlueShield Louisiana: 70,000 meals packed for area food banks to support the 6,000 federal workers in Louisiana. 183,000 meals donated in the last 6 months to state food banks.
BlueCross BlueShield of Arkansas: $12,000 donated to the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund to aid federal workers and their families. $9,000 in employee donations to two Arkansas-based federal worker relief programs.
