Video: Bold new partnership aims to lower the cost of prescription drugs

To ensure the ongoing affordability of generic medications for Americans, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) and 18 Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are committing $55 million to establish a partnership with Civica Rx to reduce the cost of generics for consumers. Civica was founded by national philanthropies and health systems to make quality medicines available and affordable.   “We believe everyone should have access to health care, no matter who they are or where they live,” said Scott P. Serota, president and CEO of BCBSA. “Through this partnership, we will push toward the vital objective of providing greater access to much-needed medications.
