Man Credits Blue Cross For His Personal Health Transformation
Americans are burning more calories and leading healthier lives as Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) company-sponsored bike share programs expand. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, physical activity can save billions in healthcare costs by helping adults reduce and prevent chronic disease. In 2018, BCBS companies’ community investment initiatives provided 17,000 bikes that logged 4.3 million miles across multiple states – that’s 173 trips around the world.  Ryan Culmer took his first ride several years ago in Philadelphia using the Indego® Bike Share program sponsored by Independence Blue Cross. The daily miles helped Ryan reach his ultimate goal of losing weight so he could keep up with his young son. Independence Blue Cross is among 14 BCBS companies that sponsor bike share programs.
